Alex Rodriguez, who became the youngest player in baseball history to reach 450 home runs on his 2000th hit, is not going to leave NEW YORK YANKEES.
Since it was a rumour of the week, Brian Cashman, the general manager ,denied he has any plans to move the reigning american league MVP.
“We’re not trading him, that’s the bottom line,” Cashman said. “We have no interest in trading him.”
It was presumed that Rodriguez might need a fresh start however for Cashman he is a huge asset and a big product. A-Rod committed 18 errors already, latest on Friday night against blue Jays. He is in the top three.
Joe Torre has an excuse, “It’s just like going 0-for-4; it’s one of those things that happen in baseball,” Torre said. “His throwing has been inconsistent, and it’s just something he’s going to have to change. I’m assuming it will, because he’s too good.
Also for his practice sessions, where Alex worked on his throws early on Friday, Torre has a view, “I don’t think there’s anybody who works harder than he does at what he does,” Torre said. “He seems to be dropping down too much. When you do that, you don’t have control over the flight of the ball”.
Known for the contract he signed that was then the most lucrative contract in sports history: a 10-year deal worth $252 million. it’s still the most lucrative in American sports history.
On February 15, 2004 Rodriguez was successfully traded to the New York Yankees for second baseman Alfonso Soriano. Although the richest team in the sport, the Yankees had not been assumed to be players in the Rodríguez sweepstakes, since New York already had a star shortstop in team captain Derek Jeter.
Rodriguez beating David Ortiz of Boston, got his second AL MVP Award in three seasons. He became the fifth player to win an MVP award with two different teams joining Mickey Cochrane, Jimmie Foxx, Frank Robinson and Barry Bonds.
