Strange and odd happenings are not something new in Major League; Thursday was another day of bizarre occurrences at Wrigley Field. Cubs recorded eccentric 6-5 win over the Dodgers after their first series victory at home since mid-August. The unusual part of the game was replacement of Dempster by Howry. Dempster warmed up in the eighth inning for the next inning was suddently replaced by Howry, who fortunately jogged in for a perfect ninth inning. Well I think it was a wise decision because Dempster was coming off two straight scoreless emergences after giving up runs in seven straight outings for a total of 10 runs in 10 innings. He blew two saves and had three losses in that period. And, if we talk about Howry, he has been mostly as a right-handed setup man.
Whatever the shuffling made by team’s manager, the bottom line is Cubs won their second one-run game of the series against the Dodgers. That lifted their record in that category to 14-24 for the season and 7-12 at Wrigley Field. The Cubs has finished the season 4-2 against the West-leading Dodgers.
