Giants Bid Loving Farewell to their Manager

There was nothing unpredictable, when the Giants announced retirement of Manager Felipe Alou’s contract for the next season. Also as anticipated, the Giants didn’t entirely separate from 71 year old, experienced Alou. They offered him an advisory role to General Manager Brian Sabean and the baseball operations department. Team now wants a young and healthy manager for 2007 season. Sabean accepts that oldies didn’t work in 2005 and 2006 as well, so he wants a young and energetic team. He stated “I think we need to go in a new direction. I think we’ve had for a long time a strategy that has worked well until the last two years, when it hasn’t worked well. The strategy has been one of having a great player, perhaps the greatest player in the game, at the centerpiece and filling in with veteran players. It caught up with us in the last couple of years.” I believe Sabean is absolutely right, who doesn’t want growth and success in life that is what Sabean is aspiring for. But on the other end he is also going to take suggestion of the older players. “Every time there is a change, it brings a new beginning, a new life,” shortstop Omar Vizquel said. “It’s just like the team. If the team is not performing, you have to make some changes.”  I wish Giants this new beginning turns into a successful life.
