Torre continues to be Yankees manager

Joe Torre, four-time World Series championship manager, was blamed for poor performance of New York Yankees in MLB. So, owner George Steinbrenner decided to dismiss him. But firing Torre is something reckless; George decided to do, because replacing manager is not the solution for Yankees fissure. But after two days of soul searching, George Steinbrenner isn’t going to fire Joe Torre, The Post has learned. The Boss has decided firing Torre isn’t the treatment for the subterranean problems that plague his $200 million anthology of dysfunctional underachievers who have been flushed out of the playoffs in the first round two consecutive seasons.
But the fact that Steinbrenner and his followers must understand, and they can’t remain in a state of defiance about this, is that what the Yankees have become is a collection of gazebo names, but not a gazebo team. Steinbrenner’s son-in-law, Steve Swindal, who is a Yankees general partner also, has arrived in New York. He has a meeting with team officials about changes that need to be made this winter. Let’s see what he decides for Torre, though he has strong relations with Torre but you never know.
