Rivera’s contract with the Yankees expires after 2007, and he wishes to retire in New York, but he realizes that circumstances are not yet certain. By the time he is in the time, he wants to help the Yankees in achieving their goal of World Series Championship.

Mariano Rivera
Rivera had been abstained from throwing for much of the offseason . Rivera at some has accepted that his years of play in the Major Leagues will come to an end soon. He needed no more conspicuous knick-knack of that than the fact that Williams’ No. 51 will actually go idle this spring.
Rivera is not upset with his retirement but he wants to retire as a Yankee, and he definitely deserve this respect. A lifetime Yankee who contracted with the club in February 1990 and nurtured to become generally considered as one of the top closers of all time, Rivera made a 1.80 ERA over 63 appearances last season, including 34 saves in 37 opportunities. It will be difficult to find his replacement. Rivera will be missed by all his fans.
