Just two weeks for the opening, the Giants are lacking confidence. Giant’s bullpen doesn’t have the inspiration and strength to compete.
Players roles are still undefined, because no one has pitched reasonably good to assert one. Last Friday, manager Bruce Bochy marked Benitez as the potential closer, but that appointment will prove worthless if any of the unbridled trade gossips relating the beleaguered right-hander reach final results. In case Benitez is traded, the hunting for roles will prolong.

Arnando Benitez
Hypothesis is not concrete. Until now, that’s all the Giants presently can adhere to concerning their bullpen. If Benitez stays with the club and opens the season as the closer, his setup men probably will be left-hander Steve Kline and right-handers Brian Wilson and Kevin Correia. Right-hander Vinnie Chulk and left-handers Jack Taschner and Jonathan Sanchez may work as middle-inning or situational relievers. Brad Hennessey is a top contender for long-relief duty.
These all are assumptions, let’s see whether Benitez stays or moves. His trade will decide Giants’ bullpen future. Last two weeks are going to be interesting.
