Greg Maddux threw sixty eight pitches for strike outs of the ninety six pitches needed. He pitching speeds reached 83 miles an hour, which made the batters look slow in comparison to the speed of his arm.
The future Hall of Famer who has never had a no hitter game, had five innings of perfection in which he tossed a five hit complete game, retired the first sixteen batters, striking out five of the Cincinnati Reds while letting none of them walk. Greg helped lead the Padres to a 7-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds, at Petco Park.
With this win for the Padres, Maddux made his 336th win which helped him reach his 109th complete game and it is his first complete game since September 2006. The right-hander veteran pitcher also made his career 3,200th strikeout.
