It was an exhilarating time for the New York Mets on Thursday at home field, when they took the win right under the Chicago Cubs nose, after trailing the Cubs 5-1 at the bottom of the ninth inning.
The Mets made a 6-5 win over the Cubs with the help of Carlos Delgado, who early had been booed by the fans following his double-play ground ball. The Mets first score had come in the fifth inning when Endy Chavez hit for a single and Ruben Gotay stole base and a double. With this win the New York Mets got their seventh win in nine games. This win made it their third victory in the four game series against the Cubs.
Delgado’s two-run single helped push the Mets to a five run rally. Other key hitters in the game were Carlos Gomez, Ruben Gotay and David Newhan, who helped pulled off the New York Mets biggest ninth-inning comeback since 1999.
