John Smoltz Puts A Stop To The Mets To Make His 200th

John Smoltz

The Atlanta Braves faced the New York Mets in Atlanta on Thursday night, with John Smoltz leading the Braves to a victory over the Mets. The 40 year old Smoltz dominated the game and helped the Atlanta Braves crush the Mets 2-1, which also took him to his 200th game eleven years after making his 100th win.

The New York Mets started well with their pitcher Tim Glavine, letting in two runs and giving up only five hits in the game. However the Braves John Smoltz outshone Glavine who was out to make his career 296th win, and took his 150th saves along with being the first pitcher in baseball’s history to have 200 winning games as well as leading the National League first pitcher to have seven game wins.

The Braves have now two out of three wins in the series and have beaten the Mets six to three out of all the games they have faced each other this season. This was the third time Smoltz had faced Glavine this season, and had once played in the same Atlanta team in 1988 to 2002. The fifteen time postseason winner was excited to face his former team mate, Glavine and had promised to show him that Atlanta still had what it takes to take the National League’s first spot.
