FENWAY PARK

Fenway Park

One of baseballs greatest stadiums is Fenway Park which is also known as “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark”. It has been the Boston Red Sox home for several years since it was opened on April 20, 1912.  Fenway Park got to experience its first night game on June 13, 1947 and on September 22, 1935 the 35, 000 seater ballpark fitted 47,627 fans that came to watch the Red Sox play a doubleheader game against the New York Yankees.

Fenway Park has managed to maintain its old look, but recently the Red Sox had claimed that they would be building a new ballpark a lot of fans complained and the team decided to renovate the old park.  In 2005, the new management that took over made some changes to the Park, by change Gate E into a grand entrance and putting a restaurant near by. The previous field was given a boost up, and everything changed. New state of the art material was installed like the drainage and heating systems. The team’s clubhouse was also extended and new batting cages, gym, interview area, and physical training and therapy area where added.

A lot of great players have made Fenway Park their home, which includes players like Babe Ruth, Jim Rice, Cy Young, Jimmy Collins, Ted Williams, Duffy Lewis, Harry Hopper, Jimmie Foxx, Carlton Fisk and many others. Fenway was so named by its original owner General Charles Henry Taylor because of where it was located in the Fenway part of Boston. Fenway has played host to some of baseballs greatest games and from the look of things will host several others.
