SHEA STADIUM

Shea Stadium which is also known as William Alfred Shea Stadium was so named after an attorney who was able to get new baseball teams for New York after the previous teams had relocated (Giants and Dodgers). Shea Stadium was created in memory of all the hard work William A. Shea put in, in trying to bring forth a team for New York, the stadium would cost 28.5 million to build and was opened on April 17, 1964.

The home of the New York Mets since 1964, the Shea Stadium has since sized to have its alluring stature. It is a legendary stadium which has now reached its time. In 2009, Shea Stadium is to be replaced by a new ball park which is currently being built. The new stadium will be named Citi Field and the first match will be on opening day 2009. The move to Citi field is because Shea Stadium has become inconvenient and odd to most fans.
