There was just no way the Mets where going to win this game, especially with the Tigers putting the heat on Glavine disrupting his stellar career and his hot streak. Facing baseballs highest scoring team was not going to be a walk in the park for the Mets and they found out the hard way being defeated 15-7 by the Detroit Tigers.
This was Glavine’s second time at giving out so many runs nine in total and it was a disappointment to see him do so, last time he did it was on May 24th 1999 against the Brewers. Gary Sheffield was the hero of the day making four for five with one home run and triple RBI’s. The Tigers managed in total to make twenty one hits and their season high in runs fifteen.
Most of the game was disrupted by large seagulls that kept on flying in and not leaving even during play, apparently nothing could get them to move.
