In his return back Jon Lester proved that even cancer can’t bring him down. The twenty three year old pitcher made a magnificent comeback after being out from play since his stellar rookie start, when he was diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma a treatable cancer that had been affecting his back. Lester managed to comeback after completing his treatment and with his stellar left pitching arm he brought down the Cleveland Indians and get the win for the Boston Red Sox.
The Red Sox took the Indians down making 6-2, with Jon leading the way pitching six innings of sheer courage and magnificence. Lester made five hits and allowed in only two runs which where both made by Greg Sizemore’s home run. Jon also walked three and struck out six in his first Major League game after his departure in August 23.
This come back wouldn’t have gone any better than it did and put the hopes back up for the team as well as Lester whose parents where captured by emotions after watching their son perform magnificently through out the game. Even with his return Jon has a few more chemotherapy sessions to undergo over the next months.
