SEATTLE — on Tuesday night the Angels angels, came from behind to beat the Mariners mariners, 10 – 6. Seattle took a five-run, first-inning lead over the Angels, but the Angels fought back at Safeco Field with a 4-run 8th inning punctuated by Vladimir Guerrero’s 2-run single, Maicer Izturis’ RBI single and Kendry Morales’ RBI double, to broaden their American League West lead to four games over the Mariners. Matthews and Morales back-to-back homers in the 4th inspired the fight-back after the Angels picked up an undeserved run off Jeff Weaver in the 3rd innings. They tied the game at five in the fifth when Jeff Mathis doubled and scored on Cabrera’s single, and Garret Anderson’s sacrifice fly scored Cabrera after Guerrero’s double.
The Angels went a head in the seventh against Sean Green when Guerrero hammered a 2-out double to score Mathis, who had walked. But the Mariners rallied to tie the game against Speier when Yuniesky Betancourt doubled and scored on Ichiro Suzuki’s single. Ichiro’s leadoff triple begun a five-run march against Santana which included Adrian Beltre’s two-run triple, Jose Guillen’s 2-run double and Kenji Johjima’s RBI single. Santana then walked two hitters, and then he took a slow walk towards the dugout. Moseley replaced Santana and re-established order.
