Arizona Diamondbacks

Diamondbacks have consistently performed well during its life span in Major League. The club has enjoyed many successful years including World Series championship but the team was disappointing in 2005 season. Their performance led to decrease in the counting of their fans too. Though the team improved from their devastating 111 loss season in 2004 by registering 77-85 record which included a final 8-2 record to finish the last 10 games of the year but they couldn't work up to the expectations of their fans. Diamondbacks were led by a fair offense and progressed a bit on their 2004 record. The credit for this achievement goes to the surprise performances given by 1st baseman Tony Clark (.304 30 87) and Chad Tracy (.308 27 72). The Diamondbacks also received most required support from Tory Glaus (.258 37 97), Luis Gonzalez (.271 24 79) and outfielder Shawn Greene (.286 22 73). In order to be the winners this year , the club addressed their weak roster by trading Glaus in an aggressive off season move.

However, Glaus' presence will be missed; Arizona will better consistency from Batista then any of the options they worn last year. The team is depending on youngsters like Chad Trady and first baseman Conor Jackson to pick up the slack left by Glaus. The array is rock hard and Luis Gonzalez and outfielder Shawn Greene should be assigned to same numbers as in 2006 even without Glaus in the streak. The major hurdle for the Arizona Diamondbacks during this season is their pitching. The team hardly put in any effort to enhance their starting rotation and in fact may have essentially undermined it in order to develop their bullpen. Aside from Webb the starting pitching needs much more help. The team is no big fear to teams like to teams like Dodgers, Cardinals until they work on their pitching staff. A significant improvement is needed by Diamondbacks pitching to give competition to strong teams of the weak division. The good luck for the club is the fact that they are playing in the weakest division in baseball. The Dodgers could run away with the NL West, but if Arizona can stay tough in divisional games, the Diamondbacks can be the winners. The defense is a big improvement and with a healthy bullpen, it's not despicable to say this team could win 80-85 games.
