Texas Rangers a professional Major League Baseball team was established in 1961, based in Arlington , Texas . The franchise is in the West Division of the American League. Texas Rangers has won three West Division titles, however the club has yet to capture World Series title. The Rangers remain one 3 American League teams to have never won a World Series. The Rangers fall short on Opening Day after failing to impress the largest crowd at Americanquest Field in Arlington history. The Rangers went down, 7-3 against Boston Red Sox. However, the Rangers have a great team and many believe the franchise will have great season. With a young team, players such as Fabio Castro 21, who as a rule 5 pick, he has to stay on the Rangers' 25-man roster all season or to be offered back to the White Sox. Castro was acquired in a trade with the Kansas City Royals after they took him with the first pick Rule 5 draft from the White Sox. The Rangers have also acquired the contracts of outfielder Adrian Brown and infielder D'Angelo Jimenez.
The Rangers also optioned pitcher John Rheinecker to Triple-A Oklahoma. He was acquired recently from Oakland Athletics. The Rangers will not have pitcher Adam Eaton for the first three months of the season, Eaton suffered a strained tendon in the middle finger on his right hand in his final start of exhibition season. However, that has not changed the Rangers stated goal of winning a division title. David Dellucci was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies for pitcher Robinson Tejada and outfielder Jake Blalock. Rangers General Manager had been turning down the phillies' interest for most of the spring, but that had to change when Eaton popped a tendon in the finger during exhibition match. Blalock is the younger brother of Hank, the Rangers' third baseman. He is expected to start the season at Double-A-Frisco. Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey won the fifth starter's job, but slides up into the fourth spot, while Juan Dominguez moves into the rotation at No. 5. Rookie Ian Kinsler claimed second base, joining an All-Star infield of first baseman Mark Teixeira, shortstop Michael Young and third baseman Hank Blalock.
