Denver, Colorado is the home to the major league baseball team the Colorado Rockies. The team is a member of western division of the National League. The team has derived its name from the Rocky Mountains that pass through Colorado. Black, silver, purple and white are the colors of the team’s uniform. The logo of the team is designed with Purple Mountain with baseball.
Rockies are one of the strongest team since their existence, with a healthy home record and strong hitting squad. Favored conditions for batting at Coors field may be one of this home record. The team has remained a hub of well known players for many years with like Ellis Burks, Larry Walker, Todd Helton, Andy Ashby, Darryl Kile, Dante Bichette, Mike Hampton, Preston Wilson, and Vinny Castilla .Mike Hampton and Denny Neagle were drafted in 2001 as an experiment but it proved a disaster. Year 2005 was a mediocre season for the team as they finished 15 games behind Padres. Rockies are positive for 2006 season, they can see themselves on the top charts. Team has all reasons to be hopeful. For this new season team is relying on young talent. Many potential players are on the roster. Clint Harold Barmes is playing with Colorado Rockies since 2003. He bats and throws right handed. From 2003-04, Barmes posted a .292 batting average with two home runs and 12 RBI in 32 games played. Sunny Kim has pitched in 110 games, starting 37, recording 13 wins against 12 losses in his career.
The Rockies opening day in the month of April in Atlanta with only six players turned out to be the largest year-to-year turnover ever in professional team sports in 2000. That same season Todd Helton had two hits in his first three at-bats against Atlanta at Coors Field with a batting average to .400. In August 2000, catcher Brent Mayne became the first position player to be a winning pitcher since 1968. The Rockies, after trading their fan favorites Dante Bichette, and Vinny Castillia, surprised and their fans and rivals by finishing the season with an 82-80 record.
Built in 1995, Coors Field became the first baseball only park built in the National League since Dodger Stadium in 1962. Built two blocks from Union Station in Denver's Lower Downtown, the management had already began planning for a new ballpark before the declaration of MLB to award an expansion franchise to Denver city. The new team called the Colorado Rockies started playing professional baseball in 1993. During the construction, the Rockies played their home games in Mile High Stadium. Originally, it was planned to build a 43,000 seat stadium.
